If your Smart Battery beeps 4 times after you press "Connect" during the "Setup via audio connection" step, it means that the Smart Battery could not connect to your home Wi-Fi.
Try these steps to resolve the issue:
- Verify the Setting for your Wi-Fi Router:
- Check your router's security settings. Roost supports WEP, WPA2 and WPA2/WPA Mixed Mode as well as unencrypted networks. If your battery is not connecting, you may need to change your Wi-Fi network security.
- The Roost Smart Battery broadcasts on the 2.4 GHz frequency and is compatible with the 802.11n, 802.11g, and 802.11b wireless standards. The Smart Battery Wi-Fi has the same range as most other Wi-Fi devices like your smartphone. Therefore, you can install Roost wherever you get a solid Wi-Fi signal on a smartphone or laptop. Obstructions like walls, cabinets, and doors will reduce Wi-Fi range. It is recommended that you use your mobile phone or laptop to test the signal strength of your Wi-Fi at the location you’re trying to install Roost.
- NOTE: Most routers have a maximum number of devices that can be connected. Adding new devices may cause other devices to drop off the network or limit the number of devices that can connect. Check your router's specifications for more information.
Note: For European users, it could also mean that your wireless access channels are set to 12, 13, or 14. Please see our Help Center article: Which wireless access channels are supported by the Roost Smart Battery?
